We are a public agency created in 1968 under
Massachusetts state law,
Chapter 40B, Sections 9-19.
We are governed by a Commission comprised of local officials and delegates representing mayors, selectmen, planning boards and at-large members. A professional staff of planners, computer modelers, traffic engineers, environmentalists, demographers, GIS specialists and support personnel is employed by the Commission. Our budget comes from many sources including federal and state governments, foundations, colleges and universities, with support from an assessment on member cities and towns.
