Comprehensive Planning

Planning Services

SRPEDD's Comprehensive Planning Team brings a wealth of experience, diverse educational and professional backgrounds, and a dedication to public service to all our work.  We're honored to provide high quality technical assistance to our member communities.

SRPEDD offers high quality technical assistance to cities and towns in a variety of subject areas and through several funding programs.

In addition to many direct contracts with our municipalities, SRPEDD’s Comprehensive Planning team funds our work through several Technical Assistance Programs. These vital state and federal grants include District Local Technical Assistance (DLTA) and the Community Compact Cabinet, U.S. Economic Development Administration (U.S. EDA)’s Planning Program and Grants, MassDOT’s Complete Streets Funding Program, MassDOER’s Green Communities Designation & Grant Program, and our regional Municipal Assistance (MA) Program.

Technical Assistance Programs

District Local Technical Assistance (DLTA)

Since 2009, regional planning agencies (RPAs) have worked with the Commonwealth to select and implement eligible DLTA projects from community applications. We emphasize projects that meet the program’s goals and have a high likelihood of creating more public and private investments.

Drone Program

SRPEDD's FAA-certified pilot adds new perspectives and valuable data to nearly every project in our portfolio.

Virtual Building Tours

Fully three-dimensional, 360° immersive virtual tours to promote economic development and public safety

ADA Self-Evaluation & Transition Plans

Communities across the country are required to provide ADA Self-Evaluation and Transition Plans that outline their compliance goals for the ADA. SRPEDD provides grant-writing and technical assistance to complete these plans.

Municipal Assistance (MA)

As we do every fiscal year, SRPEDD is happy to provide 40 hours of free technical assistance to each of our communities. This tradition – known as our “Municipal Assistance (MA)” Program – provides a variety of options for SRPEDD staff to help move your work forward.

U.S. Economic Development Administration (EDA)

In its role as the region’s federally-designated Economic Development District (the “EDD” in “SRPEDD”), we undertake a wide variety of activities in partnership with local jurisdictions, the business and academic communities, and – of course – the U.S. Economic Development Administration (EDA). In fact, SRPEDD helps bring millions of dollars of public and private investments into the region each year.
