The following are activities such as the Technical Assistance Programs which allocates federal transportation funds to projects, to management work to improve our region's transportation network and service.

Municipal Assistance (MA) Programs - The Southeastern Regional Planning and Economic Development District offers a variety of services.

District Local Technical Assistance (DLTA) - The DLTA program, funded statewide at $2 million for FY2010- FY2011 by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and the legislature, allows Regional Agencies to province much needed planning assistance to their member communities.  This funding allows SRPEDD to assist cities and towns with projects that address one or more of the State Sustainable Development Principles and/or support the collaboration among communities to develop shared land use objectives.  This funding is also to be with municipal partnerships that encourage municipalities to work together to achieve and/or enhance service delivery or create and sustain ongoing collaboration/consultation on issues affecting the municipalities.

South Coast Rail Technical Assistance (SCR TA)SRPEDD provides technical and administrative support for this project which is sponsored by MassDOT.  We staff the Southeastern Massachusetts Commuter Rail Task Force, provide technical assistance to cities and towns.  We also oversee the process for designating priority development and priority protection areas and perform other tasks in support of this initiative to restore commuter rail service to Taunton, Fall River and New Bedford.
